In a world that often presents challenges for individuals with learning, mobility, and communication disabilities, the Orpington and Bromley Gateway Club aims to offer inclusive events. We’d like to share the experience of one of our favourite clients in Orpington, a man named NK. This unique event not only welcomed NK with open arms but also provided an environment where he could connect with others who shared similar conditions.
Gateway Friday Club
The Orpington and Bromley Gateway Club has been running for over 50 years. They have been bringing value to individuals who are not able to fully engage with any activity.
The club runs a variety of different activates every week. These include:
- Monthly art sessions
- Sports with a qualified sports coach
- Armchair/wheelchair sports
- Massage once a month
- Live music with cover bands such as ABBA girls or Elvis
The club is open every Friday night except the holidays, showing how dedicated the volunteers are. They are hardworking people that ensure each event night is enjoyed by all.
NK’s Night of Dancing
The organisers and fun workers at the club understand the importance of fostering an environment where individuals like NK can thrive, engage, and most importantly, have the time of their lives.
Communication can be a significant challenge for people with learning and communication disabilities. The fun workers, specially trained to work with individuals with diverse needs by using alternative communication methods.
