Caremark’s presentation to the Gloucestershire WI

Jo Folkes and Frances Hopwood, from our team, delivered a thought provoking presentation to the Gloucestershire WI (Women’s Institute) at St Andrew’s Community Church in Churchdown on 5 November 2024.

The Gloucestershire WI’s event was very well organised . Around 80 WI members from all over Gloucestershire were in attendance.
Jo and Frances’ talk was well received and provoked some smiles, laughter and a few tears!
Jo even encouraged some audience exercise participation and a lovely lady by the name of Jill joined us on stage even though she was suffering with a sore shoulder.
One lady was blind and deaf and was accompanied by her lovely golden retriever guide dog. She enquired whether we could provide holiday cover for her existing carers and of course Jo said ‘yes’!
What was our presentation about?
Jo and Frances prepared a PowerPoint presentation headed ‘Planning to Care’.
‘Planning to Care’ firstly tells the story about Frances’ parents who sadly died through illnesses they would not talk about to their family. They also never discussed about having a Will or Power of Attorney made. So when the worst happened, Frances discovered these important documents were not in place.
As Frances says “Conversations should happen, and plans can be made and put in place to help and support those who need it in times of heartache.“
Jo and Frances then talked to the Gloucestershire WI about how Caremark could have improved their lives, and many others, by:
Encouraging them to be proactive not reactive!
How?
- Building and retaining strength
- Promoting and maintaining independent living
- Care plans built around our clients’ needs and wants
- Using technology like “Genie”
We help our clients get stronger and stay stronger!
