Our November chair based exercise class – what happened?

On 12th November we held another of our free Chair Based Exercise Class and Coffee Mornings at St Pip and St Jims in Leckhampton. These exercise classes are proving so popular with our visitors, we can’t wait to share our 2025 programme with you.

Our trusty core of the 4 ‘musketeers’ (Jean, Vera, Dorris and Joan) were in attendance. They were joined by Anna and Mandy, who also bought with her the delightful dachshunds Betty and Dolly.
What happened at our November chair based exercise class?
After a series of gentle warming up exercises consisting of side-to-side neck bends, forwards and backward shoulder rolls and sitting torso bends, Jo Folkes introduced us to some very specific proprioception exercises.
Proprioception, also known as kinaesthesia, is the ability to sense and freely move your body and limbs in your external environment.
Proprioception can worsen with age, injury, or disease, making daily tasks harder thereby increasing your risk of injury and falls.

At our November’s chair based exercise class Jo also suggested that we should try and do these exercises with our eyes closed! This was far more difficult but great fun!
We were also treated to a visit from Rob Parkes of Service Robotics. Rob introduced us all to the features of the GenieLite care companion whilst we enjoyed tea, coffee and Cherry Bakewell tarts.

Like the sound of our November exercise class? Are you interested in coming along to our next free, yes FREE, chair based exercise class? Where you can meet like minded people and have a hot drink with cake? Or do you know someone who would like to attend?
If so, our next session is on 10 December at 10am to 12noon, again at St Pip and St Jims. This will be a Christmas themed session, so please feel free to wear a Christmas jumper if you want to!
The exercise classes are open to all so please feel free to turn up. Hopefully we will see you there!
