This Brew Monday, the Samaritans are reminding everyone to reach out for a cuppa and a catch-up with others.

Upcoming Event – Make your day better with Brew Monday at Hounslow House

Date: Monday 15 January 2024, from 8.45am and 11.45am

Location: Hounslow House, Ground floor, 7 Bath Road, Hounslow Middlesex, TW3 3EB

The third Monday of the year is sometimes referred to as Blue Monday, as it’s supposedly the day when people’s mood suffers the most. But the Samaritans want to dispel that myth and encourage people to know that any day can be a good or a bad day.

In support of the Samaritans, Hounslow Council is turning this 15th January into Brew Monday, a day to get together, form new friendships and set out on a path to better mental health all year round.

Taking place in the foyer at Hounslow House, Brew Monday offers the chance to meet people, have a hot or cold drink, and chat and listen. There’s no need to do anything in advance, just turn up on the day for a friendly welcome.

The third Monday in January is sometimes referred to as ‘the most difficult day of the year’ but the Samaritans they know there is no such thing as ‘Blue Monday’ – we all have our good days and our bad days, and those aren’t for the calendar to decide.

The Samaritans charity are encouraging people to think differently and start a conversation over a brew! ​Reach out and connect with family, friends, colleagues and loved ones.

How to be a good listener

Once someone starts to share how they’re feeling, it’s important to listen. This could mean not offering advice, not trying to identify what they’re going through with your own experiences and not trying to solve their problems.
