Family-run franchise delivers 10,000 hours of weekly homecare

Led by the married duo Emily and Richard Magrath, the family business owned jointly under the Caremark franchise by this couple stands as the largest within the franchise. Their enterprise boasts a workforce of 500 employees and a customer base exceeding 800, operating across the regions of Belfast and North Down.
The family franchise is commemorating a decade of operation this summer. As an additional celebratory touch, the team has achieved a significant accomplishment by providing more than 10,000 hours of in-home care to the Belfast community on a weekly basis.
While close to 3,000 people are awaiting a funded homecare package in Northern Ireland[1], the momentous contribution of Caremark Belfast and North Down over the past decade has gone a long way to easing the strain on public resources, with nearly 2.5 million hours of care provided by their team since 2013.
The down-to-earth couple note that, at the heart of its success is a people-first approach and a tight-knit team that is devoted to providing this vital homecare to such a vast amount of people across Belfast and the surrounding areas.
Richard says “Our focus is our people, both our customers and your staff. Profit will follow if you look after people”
Emily adds: I know it’s cheesy, but we very much have tried to create a Caremark family here.”
Emily continues: “We have loads of family connections working here. Mothers working with their sons and daughters, husband and wife colleagues, even aunts, uncles and cousins.” Richard adds “there’s five people working here from one family!”
This talk of being a Caremark family isn’t something that’s said half-heartedly or off-the-cuff, it’s reality. Their son, Charlie, works as a carer and in the office around his school studies and several further employees work alongside their family members. This adds emphasis to how inspirational the work is and confirms the positive environment the Magraths have created.
