What Is Pension Credit?
This benefit is a means-tested benefit designed to support individuals of State Pension age on low incomes. Administered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), it aims to top up your weekly income, helping you cover essential living costs.
There are two main components to Pension Credit:
- Guarantee Credit – Provides a minimum weekly income for those who have reached State Pension age.
- Savings Credit – Offers additional financial help for those who have modest savings or a private pension. This is only available if you reached State Pension age before 6 April 2016.
How Much Could You Receive?
- If you qualify for Guarantee Credit, your income will be topped up to at least:
- £201.05 per week if you’re single.
- £306.85 per week if you’re a couple.
- If you’re eligible for Savings Credit, you could receive up to:
- £15.94 per week if you’re single.
- £17.84 per week if you’re a couple.
