Care Assistant of the Month August 2023

This August, we are delighted to honor Angela from Caremark Dartford as our Care Assistant of the Month. Angela’s unwavering dedication and remarkable commitment to her customers, especially those facing the challenges of dementia, stand as a shining example of the compassion and resilience that define the caregiving profession.

Making Everything Possible!

One of Angela’s most remarkable feats is her dedication to a new customer who has been battling advanced dementia. The transition to a new environment and the distress it brought upon the customer, presented an incredibly challenging situation. Angela recognised the gravity of the situation and, instead of being deterred, she embarked on a quest for knowledge and support. Seeking advice from a trainer on dementia care, she integrated this newfound wisdom into her approach with the customer.

Angela’s diligent efforts led to a significant improvement in the customer’s condition. What was once a daunting task – assisting with personal care – became possible, a testament to Angela’s unwavering commitment and her determination to provide the highest level of care. She made her customer feel safe, loved, and valued, demonstrating that with compassion and the right approach, there are no challenges too great to overcome.

Angela is a true embodiment of resilience and determination. She doesn’t shy away from the most challenging situations but rather embraces them with unwavering determination and a compassionate heart.

One of her colleagues has said: “Angela has been visiting a particularly challenging customer who often refuses personal care. Angela has been visiting for over two weeks, she often experiences verbal abuse from the client and has still returned every day and has not given up. Finally, after two weeks Angela attended and managed to get the customer to have a wash and have a meal. On one occasion, Angela visited the hospital to visit a client in her own time to comfort the client as he had no other family members or friends. She visited every day until he was discharged home”.

For her extraordinary dedication and her commitment to not giving up, Angela is truly deserving of our recognition as Care Assistant of the Month. Her unwavering support, patience, and compassion shine as a beacon of hope and comfort to those she serves.
