Quick-thinking Care Assistant saves a customer’s life

Our June Care Assistant of the month is Carol Locke from Caremark Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & Malling, nominated by Care Manager Simon Rowland.
A Hero at Caremark
During a traumatic incident in which her customer was choking on their vomit, Carol’s quick thinking and effective first aid no doubt saved this customer from passing away. Carol states she “was just doing my job” but this was above and beyond ‘normal’ duty.
Dedicated to improving customer’s lives
Historically with this customer, who is immobile without a hoist or wheelchair, Carol has helped them gain a healthy weight, organised coffee trips with her friends and constantly takes her out and about to enjoy something other than the four walls she lives in.
Inspiring work ethic
Always punctual and often taking on extra weeks’ assignments at a time, in her role as a live-in Care Assistant, Carol is a diligent and hard-working member of the Caremark Tunbridge Wells, Tonbridge & Malling team. She regularly provides updates on the care of her customers and is full of praise for the other Care Assistants who assist in the day-to-day care of this particular customer.
Carol recently took on the tasks of mentoring a new live-in carer and is showing her the ropes at present. She is always willing to support the office with anything asked of her and regularly gets great feedback from the other team members she works with.
The son of her current live-in customer said: “I don’t know where you found this caring gem, but clone her”.
Care Manager Simon Rowland said: “This is just one example of how highly Carol is thought of. I don’t know of a single person who thinks she is less than fantastic.”
