A community group is once again bringing huge smiles to the faces of well over 2,000 people in Kirklees this Christmas, and our customers are among them.

We were once again delighted to support the efforts of Santa Seniors, a group set up by a mother (Suzanne Garraghan) and daughters (Amy and Lizzie) to collect, wrap and distribute gifts to old and vulnerable people who face spending Christmas alone.

Of more than 6,000 presents being distributed this year, 120 are going to 40 of our customers (each person receives three) and these are being delivered by our staff during their normal care calls.

Among those receiving them this year are Wendy Dempsey, who described it as a “lovely gesture”.

Another customer Irene Farmer said: “I will save mine to open at Christmas, what a nice surprise.”

And Stuart Wilson said: “They went straight under by Christmas tree, and I am looking forward to opening them on Christmas day.”

Caremark Kirklees Director Fiona Smith, who has been helping to deliver some of the gifts, said: “We have been proud to support Santa Seniors since its inception in 2016.

“It continues to grow from strength to strength and we never cease to be amazed by the generosity of local people who donate presents in greater numbers each year.

“It always puts smiles on the faces of our customers when they receive their gifts. Thank you, Santa’s Seniors.”
