A blessing

Sunita Rani swapped being on a production line for helping people to remain in their own homes and describes the switch to homecare as a blessing.

The 25-year-old was working in a large bakery factory but found the job very stressful and unrewarding.

Several of her friends were working in care and they suggested she tried that instead, so she joined Caremark Leeds in March 2022 and hasn’t looked back since.

“It’s so much easier than working in a factory but in a good way,” says Sunita.

“I am originally from India and we have large extended families there so I was already used to looking after my grandparents and other members of the family, and it’s basically the same as I do now.”

Sunita is a ‘walker’ so her calls are based close to the area where she lives, which gives her lots of flexibility.

“That’s important because it means I can do lots of things around my work, including spending time with my husband,” she explains.

“I really enjoy sitting chatting to my customers and helping them any way I can.

“It’s a blessing being a carer and I would recommend it to anyone.”

Sunita is currently having driving lessons and says she is looking forward to getting her own car for work and pleasure.
