Flexible working

Flexible working arrangements in home care can help people maintain a good work/life balance, but in Bailey King’s case it’s a work/work balance, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.
That’s because by day, Bailey works as a Property Manager for one of the UK’s largest professional landlord companies and by night (and weekends) she dons the Caremark blue uniform to help people remain in their own homes.
That adds up to a 70-hour week, but Bailey does not mind at all, because she loves both jobs in equal measure, and she still makes time for other things in her life like going to the gym.
Bailey joined Caremark Leeds in February 2023. Her Aunt Keeley works for Caremark and recommended homecare to her.
“I work Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm as a Property Manager, and then start my care shifts from 6.30pm and work until just before 10pm,” Bailey says.
“I have always liked to keep my options open, and experience new things, and in some respects the two jobs I do are very similar because it’s all about making people happy, either welcoming them to their new home or helping them to remain in their current home.
“I massively enjoy making a difference to people’s lives and you get a lot of satisfaction from being a carer.
“Helping someone with their tea, getting ready for the night or just having a chat doesn’t even feel like work!”
