A positive process

“I’ve honestly never experienced such a positive process from start to finish from the first phone call to the end of the training. I’ve enjoyed every single bit of it, and I am so glad that I put my application in to be a part of such an amazing team.
“You are all fabulous, the training was just spot on, and I took a lot more in than I usually would because it was so fun, and you delivered it in a way that kept me engaged all the time.
I only hope that I can make you all proud to have me as a carer and thank you for seeing the best of me through all my randomness.”
This is a message from one of our newer carers to our Recruitment & Training Coordinator Lizzie Redfern. It perfectly sums up Lizzie’s approach to training and why she has become a very valued member of our team since joining Caremark Mansfield in September 2022.
Lizzie only came into care in 2020. She had been inspired to make the move from her previous role working in an estate agency when visiting a family friend who received care.
She says: “The lady was called Kitty and I remember seeing how good the carers were and listening to Kitty telling stories about her life.
“I thought it was something I could do, and the rest is history!”
Lizzie returned to care in 2022 following the birth of her daughter and interviewed for a recruitment role at Caremark Mansfield.
“I was terrified about not having enough experience for the role, but they called me the following day to say I had been successful and now I also do the training as well, which I love,” she adds.
Lizzie now uses her own experience when it comes to recruiting new carers.
She explains: “I didn’t get the first ever job I applied for in care because they told me I didn’t have the experience but that’s not the approach we take here at Caremark Mansfield.
“We are looking for caring people and if that comes across in interview, then we will take them through the process because having a caring nature is more important than anything.”
Lizzie says she gets great job satisfaction from seeing the people she has helped to recruit and train progress within Caremark.
“It’s nice getting compliments from people I have trained, and it is one of the many reasons why I love for my job so much,” she adds.
“Another is what a flexible and family-friendly company Caremark Mansfield are. The owners Simon and Jo and Care Manager Chloe are so understanding and will do anything to help their staff.
“That’s why I can’t imagine working anywhere else than here.”
When she’s not recruiting and training carers, Lizzie’s spare time is spent with her “whirlwind” of a daughter Annie, who is about to turn two.
