“I couldn’t wait to return to my Caremark family”

Gaynor had worked as a cashier for Halifax for over a decade until the branch closed, and she was made redundant. She was then invited at Caremark Redcar and Cleveland for an interview for a position as a home care assistanot. Her extensive customer service experience was what made her a great fit for the job.
Despite having no previous experience, Gaynor decided to give the job a try because she wanted to meet new people, just like she did as a cashier. She joined Caremark as a care assistant and quickly advanced to the position of supervisor and then care coordinator.
She then decided to leave and take up a job as a receptionist in an NHS chemotherapy ward. Working for the NHS during Covid was challenging for Gaynor, and she found herself being moved to different departments every day. She missed the team spirit she had experienced at Caremark and felt like she was just a number rather than a part of a team or family. The final straw came when her beloved 12-year-old lurcher dog, Milo, passed away, and her boss at the NHS demonstrated no empathy for her loss.
Gaynor realized she needed to make a change and decided to leave her job. Fortunately, she was still in contact with her friends at Caremark, and they informed her of a recruitment position available in their team. She was thrilled to be interviewed for the role and was successful in securing the job.
“It’s so nice to be back,” Gaynor said. “You feel you are all one family, caring for people and helping them to stay in their own homes, which is so fulfilling. We are always looking for new staff, so I manage the recruitment on social media or at job fairs and stalls and get to meet lots of new people.”
One of the added bonuses of working for Caremark is that they have five Labradors who work as therapy dogs in the office, so Gaynor can enjoy some additional love and cuddles from her new furry friends whenever she wants.
