Anything but a stop gap!

After being made redundant from her jobs as a Mortgage Underwriter, knowing there were lots of care jobs, Tracey Sampson thought she would do that as stop gap until something else came up – and ten years later she is still here!

“I have been stuck in care ever since,” jokes Tracey.

Having joined Caremark from another homecare company in 2018, Tracey started as a Care Coordinator, a role she still holds together covering our largest area of Redcar.

“Even though I had been a carer, I hadn’t done coordinating before so Michelle, the Care Manager at the time and now our MD, took a chance on me and I learned as I went,” she explains.

“Every day is different and can range from speaking or meeting customers, through to liaising with social workers

“I really enjoy and whilst it was only going to be a stopgap when I first came into care, it’s definitely turned out to be the right place for me.”

Being based at our head office in Guisborough means Tracey is surrounded by our ten animal therapy dogs, but as a dog lover that doesn’t faze her at all.

“I recently got a puppy Mavis to replace my two kids who have both left home and I bring her into work too,” says Tracey.

“I go walking early in the morning with Michelle and all the therapy dogs and if Mavis becomes our next therapy dog, that would be fantastic.”
