Her career calling

As a teenager, Emma Crane had moved in to help care for her grandmother and this experience eventually led to her finding her career calling.

Until then, our Redcar Area Manager had worked in various job, including cleaning and working at the Boro ground on match days but none of these ignited a passion.

But after passing her driving test, more opportunities were opened to her, so she applied to work at Caremark and has now been here for seven years.

“I always thought I would go into care one day, but I had my three children and everything went on the back burner for a while,” she explains.

“I knew Kelly Richardson was a carer here at the time and now a Care Coordinator and she told me I would like it here and she was correct.

“Getting my licence and my job with Caremark gave me a real confidence boost and everything has been great from then on.

Emma impressed so much as a carer that within few months she was promoted to Field Care Supervisor and she has also previously been named the company’s employee of the year.

She became Redcar Area Manager just over two years ago and her main job is to support the two Field Care Supervisors in the areas, as well as carrying observations, reviews and making sure care plans are being delivered correctly. She is involved in the supported living schemes we have in all areas.

“Redcar is one of our biggest area’s so there are a lot of carers and customers, so I am kept busy,” adds Emma.

“I absolutely love my job, every day is different and it’s so rewarding to go home at night and know I have helped to make a difference to someone’s life, that they are on the correct plan and getting the support they need.”

Outside of work, married mum-of-three Emma enjoys spending with her husband and children.

“One of my sons enjoys playing football so I enjoy watching him and we also love going to watch Middlesbrough play,” she adds.

“I also enjoy going to the bingo and once won a fair amount of money which came at the perfect time because we were moving and so that helped with decorating and going on holiday with her children and other things.”
