Fundraising for Sheffield Children’s Hospital….
We work closely with the Children’s Hospital in Sheffield and continue to be amazed at their care and efforts they go to support the children that come through their doors.
We also recognise the financial challenges that every organisation faces, so our team had identified another money raising opportunity to support this incredible team and organisation.
As part of our summer plans, we held a ‘Yorkshire Day’ at our Caremark allotment space, we had lots of our clients and staff visit- we had a great time and managed to raise some funds from games and raffle tickets for some fab prizes, totalling £150.
Our Welfare & Wellbeing Officer Jade Gibson, together with one of our lovely clients, Harry, made a special trip to the Sheffield Children’s Hospital yesterday to visit the amazing staff on the HDU ward.
Janette, who runs the Children’s Hospital Charities, suggested a ‘wish-list’ of the things that the children, parents, and families would love to be donated to the ward to make their stays there extra special, rather than hard cash.
The Wishlist consisted of the following items:
- Cot sheets
- Cot bedding
- Cosy blankets
Harry had spent some time within the Children’s Hospital in the past, he is now enjoying time at home with his Mum and being supported by his highly trained Caremark team to consistently attend school.
We thought it would be a really special moment for Harry and his Mum to be the ones to donate gifts to the Ward on behalf of the Caremark Rotherham & Sheffield team. With our fundraising pot, we were able to purchase enough bedding and blankets to fill all the beds on the ward along with a change of bedding too. Carly (Harry’s Mum) also donated a lovely moonlight lamp which lights up a room with moons and stars.
We are so happy to be able to make a small difference to the children who spend time in the HDU. The staff on the ward were over the moon with the gifts and couldn’t wait to make all the beds up to look cosy and comfortable!
