Our Commitment to Responsive, Specialised Emergency Support
In crisis situations, efficient and timely responses are critical to the wellbeing of Clients and families. This is why we ensure that our team can mobilise quickly, to respond to urgent support requirements. We have provided emergency support to numerous families in crisis, and consistently receive positive feedback surrounding our responsiveness. Contributing to positive changes for the families that we support is extremely important to us, and recently we saw the impact of our work with our new Client, Billy.
Billy’s Story
Last week, our team rallied around a family who were in need of crisis support, providing responsive, highly specialised care. On Thursday, Billy was referred to us as an emergency case. Billy and his family were in crisis due to a lack of support. Billy’s diagnosis of autism, ADHD and restless leg syndrome cause him continuous, severe distress, resulting in extreme behaviours that challenge. Due to a lack of support, Mum was struggling to sleep, and the situation was becoming a huge problem for the family. With specialist training surrounding autism and behaviours that challenge, our team were able to put a plan in place to ensure Billy and his family received timely and appropriate support.
How we Supported Billy and his Family
We mobilised our management to complete initial needs and risk assessments as soon as we received the emergency referral, and completed these within a matter of hours. Working closely with Social Workers and other health professionals, we were able to respond to the crisis with urgency. By Thursday evening, a responsive team of Support Workers were ready, at extremely short notice, to implement emergency support for Billy and his family over the weekend.
Since that weekend, we have seen the impact that our continued support has made. The team have worked incredibly hard to mobilise around the family, building a strong, trusting, and supportive relationship with Billy in a very short time span. During visits of around 6 hours, our Support Workers have been helping Billy to enjoy age-appropriate activities like playing football and visiting the park. These visits also enable Mum to have some much-needed respite. She now has the opportunity to relax and catch up on her sleep, knowing her son is much happier and receiving the quality of support he deserves!
Mum feels that our Support Workers have been like ‘child whisperers’ and have helped the family’s situation massively!
We were really pleased to receive this brilliant, positive feedback. Empowering our customers to live the lives they deserve is extremely important to us, and we are thrilled that the standard of our care contributes to positive outcomes like this. We are incredibly proud of our team for their commitment to providing outstanding support, especially during times of crisis. With high quality, compassionate care in place, every visit contributes to a more normal and fulfilled life for Billy.
